Hoshino Ruins

As the site of excavation of Jomon period ruins, the Hoshino Ruins is home to the Hoshino Ruins Museum and the Hoshino Stratum Museum. Visiting allows one to learn about Jomon/Yayoi period Tochigi City and to see the stone age stratum found during the excavation of the Hoshino Ruins up close. In addition, the seasonal Hoshino Forest located at the foot of Mt. Mitsuminesan is an area where the Japanese Fatsia grows, a plant that is very rare throughout the country, and the scale of the growth is the largest in Japan. Large numbers of tourists visit the area to see the Japanese Fatsia during its flowering season from February 3 to late February.
