The Karasuyama Washi Kaikan is a facility dedicated to handmade Karasuyama washi (Japanese paper). It is said that washi was first used to create ancient texts 780 years ago when the Nasu clan invited paper artisans from Echizen Province (modern day Fukui Prefecture).The Karasuyama Washi Kaikan's building itself stands as a visually stunning piece of the city's heritage of modernization.Inside, visitors can find beautiful Karasuyama washi on display and for sale.
